Albi Clad TF+ intumescent paint (coating) is spray applied directly from the shipping container. Albi Clad TF can be applied to most building materials. All metal surfaces should be primed. Alkyd metal primers are compatible. All surfaces must be clean, dry and free of oil, grease, loose scale, dirt and dust.
Product shall be delivered to the jobsite in factory sealed containers, 5 gallon pails. 55 gallon drums are available by special request.
Application Rates
Spray: up to 45 Mils Wet Film Thickness per Coat
Brush: 10 Mils Wet Film Thickness per Coat
Overcoating is not required with Albi Clad TF+. However, topcoat can be used for color-coding, aesthetics or additional surface protection against spills. For application sites subjected to chemical fumes or spills, the use of a topcoat is recommended. Must be mixed with a drill mixer until product reaches a viscosity to spray.
Application Equipment
Airless Sprayer is most effective application method.
Use 1.0 gal. per minute electric airless (minimum) to provide an operating pressure of 3,000 p.s.i. (210 kg/cm2).
** Remove rock catcher from siphon tube.**
Spray tips 0.021″- 0.025″. Hose length 50′ (15 m) maximum
Product must be mixed thoroughly with mechanical equipment to a
smooth creamy consistency. DO NOT THIN.
Frequent thickness measurements with a wet film gauge are recommended during the application process to ensure uniform thickness.
Final thickness must be measured using an electronic Dry Film Thickness gauge. DeFelsko Positector Gauges from TechMat Supply Co are recommended.
Do not apply Albi Clad TF+ below 50 degrees F. Care must be taken to protect the material from direct rainfall.
Please refer to the Application Manual and Field Guide for further details. Thickness of the application will depend upon the fire endurance rating specified. Installation must be in accordance with manufacturer’s printed instructions, and in compliance with specific test requirements.
